Burrows Memorial Christian Hospital, Society is situated in Cachar District, 20 Kms from Sichar on the way to Jiribam, Manipur (NH - 53).
BMCH is a medical mission providing compassionate Christian care at primary, secondary and tertiary levels to people of Northeast India irrespective of caste, creed or religion, with primary consideration to the poor and marginalized. BMCH trains medical missionaries to transform the communities around us with better health facilities at an affordable cost.The hospital has its own GNM Nursing School recognized by the Assam Nursing Council and the Indian Nursing Council, agriculture/fishery/piggery departments on its campus. The Govt. of India has also declared our School of Nursing as a Minority Educational Institution covered under section 2(g) of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions Act, 2004.
Burrows Memorial Christian Hospital was the first well established hospital ever in the Cachar District and was started in 1935 by the Baptist Mid – Mission Missionaries, USA. The hospital was taken over by the Emmanuel Hospital Association, New Delhi in the year 2000.

The hospital has 70 beds at present (proposed to be increased to 100 beds). The hospital has well equipped labour room, operation rooms, laboratory, X-Ray, ultrasound, 24hrs. emergency services, ambulance, dental and community health program etc. The Charitable hospital runs on its own income and is registered under Section 12A for IT exemption and is also registered by Govt. of India under section 80G of Income Tax Act, 1961. The hospital is also the only empanelled hospital for RSBY program in our Sub-Division. The Hospital is also in partnership with the Govt. under Public Private Partnership for mother & child health program. The hospital is also in partnership with CMC Vellore for Community Lay Leaders Health Training Certificate Course for the last 4 years.
The hospital has registered Pharmacy with qualified Pharmacist.
The X-Ray department has a Wipro GE DX-300 X-Ray machine with approved building with dark-room and a qualified X-Ray Technician.
The Ultrasound department has a GE Logiq C5 Premium BT 12 Color Doppler ultrasound machine. The hospital is registered under PNDT Act.
The Laboratory has a semi-automatic dry chemistry analyzer (Johnson & Johnson) , semi-automatic liquid chemistry analyzer (Agape),urine analyzer and 3 – part differential cell counter (Agape). We have well equipped Lab. Technicians.
The hospital runs its own Nursing School offering the GNM Course recognized by the Assam Nursing Council and the Indian Nursing Council. 20 students are taken in every year and the hostel can accommodate 80 students. The products of our School of Nursing are scattered all over India and abroad.
The hospital has its own biomedical waste disposal unit for solid waste as well as an effluent treatment plant for liquid waste. These are certified by the Pollution Control Board, Assam. The hospital has its own water treatment plant. The hospital also has good central supplies department with Natsteel autoclaves.
The operation rooms are well equipped with all facilities for minor and major surgeries. The hospital also has the facilities for the laparoscopy surgeries. The nursery can accommodate 5 babies at a time and the delivery room with two tables.
The 70 bedded hospital has its own 250 KVA mains transformer with 100 KVA load sanctioned by the ASEB. In addition there are 140 KVA & 62 KVA Kirloskar Generators and 5 KVA Honda Generator. The hospital has also inverter back up for at least 2 hrs.
Average outdoor patients daily – 55 to 95 patients.
Average indoor patients daily – 30 patients.
Average ANC Patients monthly – 75 patients.
Average delivery per month – Normal - 45 deliveries and 15 LSCS.
Average Major Surgeries – 32 cases.
Average Minor Cases – 55 cases.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR DOCTORS AND MEDICAL STUDENTS
We will be very happy to have any visiting Consultants for a minimum of one month. We are badly in need of Obstetrics & Gynea specialist.
At present we have a General Surgeon, Psychiatrist and one Medical Officer.
Medical students can come for mission exposure for 7 – 10 days. We can accommodate around 8 persons without any problem at a time.

Aizawl city (capital of Mizoram) is around 170 kms far from our hospital.
Shillong city (capital of Meghalaya), also known as the Scotland of the East is around 190 Kms. far our hospital. In these two states there are many tourist spots.
